It’s winter season at Baldy Hughes – time for snow clearing, tending to the animals and keeping the community warm, safe and strong. But thanks to the ingenuity and dedication of community members, it is also planting and growing season!
After much planning – and a bit of re-engineering – our greenhouse is again winter operational, in spite of outdoor temperatures regularly dropping to -20c or more. We are now growing a huge range of vegetables and herbs, all of which will surely make their way to our kitchen and dining tables by early spring.
We are always grateful for our greenhouse and its produce, but to have one that operates all year in such a northern climate is quite a distinction! Way to go guys for nurturing and sustaining life throughout the seasons!
